Balloon in the clouds

Price: $1,500
This balloon window was an experiment in learning how to construct a 3-dimensional panel. Plaster of Paris was used as the form. As it cured it was shaped with a steel scraper to the rough size. After drying it was sanded and a varnish was applied to seal it. The linework of the balloon was transferred onto the form and a pattern for the glass was complete. The assembly technique was the copper foil method. After being soldered together, the surface of the balloon projects about 3/4” above the rest of the panel. The clouds on the balloon are out of an iridized opaque white. The color spectrum is out of transparent antique glass.
