This triptych restoration project was a pleasure to work on. The windows were from Luxemburg, Germany. The lead had been tinned and was in very good shape. There were however very small saddle bars supporting the windows. My commission was to reassemble the three windows into a one inch copper H-channel frame. The first step was to fabricate a steel matrix to support the panels. If you look closely the tinned steel reinforcing bars can be seen. They are shaped and bent to follow the existing lead lines. The copper bars had to be notched to accept the reinforcing bars. The windows, when assembled together, measured 52" in height x 72" in width.
