I call this commission Midnight Blue. In the whole series of what I term private works, this was my favorite commission ever. No strings attached, no parameters, no prospectus. Just do what you like kind of attitude. Also there were no purse strings, a rare thing nowadays. If a value were placed on any private work I’ve ever done this one tops the list.
The beveled shafts parallel each other and vary in width. The center piece is a streaky red and clear hand blown glass. It was made by Fremont Glass Company. It is surrounded by brilliantly colored accent pieces, each of which, are peak beveled. The dark blue at the bottom of the window is Kokomo #149. The window was assembled primarily with copper caimes, which vary in width. Narrow lead was used on the more intricate shapes.
Here is where Midnight Blue lives. The desert southwest is a great place to live. Lot’s of sunlight and really nice owners that will dust Blue off from time to time.
