The piece was conceived when all the hype about one of the Mars probes had photographed what appeared to be a three dimensional face on the surface of the Martian planet. There was also a photo which showed a structure that resembled a pyramid. Much later the scientific reports said it was just a large rocky hill which in low shadow resembled a face. I designed a stained glass window to commemorate this event.
The Martian landscape is in the upper half of the window. There are some small pyramids along the horizon line. The lower section and outer border have an Egyptian theme. The clouds are floating in the blue sky. There are only lead lines around the perimeter of the clouds. Areas where the clouds were located were sandblasted out, thus leaving an open space in which the clouds were later leaded into.
