This lamp is constructed of solid brass and copper. The top and bottom octagonal brass plates have openings to let the heat escape from the incandescent bulbs. They are bolted onto the vertical supports by means of brass knurled nuts. This facilitates in the easy removal of the glass in case of a break. Present day lamps are manufactured in a way which precludes the easy removal of any broken glass. In many instances it is far cheaper to replace the whole lamp than to replace the broken glass.
